Medical Journey & Current Status

Harshita is a brave young girl from New Delhi, currently fighting a courageous, life-defining battle against Retinoblastoma (RB), a serious form of eye cancer. Despite her tender age and the overwhelming intensity of medical procedures, Harshita has shown incredible resilience throughout her treatment journey at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

Since her diagnosis, Harshita’s life has been defined by hospital visits and rigorous care. She has been under the dedicated care of the Retinoblastoma & Ocular Oncology Services and the Department of Pediatric Oncology, undergoing multiple cycles of chemotherapy (including medications such as Carboplatin and Etoposide) and frequent diagnostic evaluations.

Current Progress: Following extensive discussions within the Retinoblastoma Committee (RC), the medical team has reached a critical stage in her treatment. To ensure the cancer is addressed effectively, the specialists have recommended enucleation (surgical removal of the eye). Her treatment plan continues to require close monitoring, including regular MRI scans of the brain and orbit, along with systematic laboratory blood work.

Treatment Plan: Following extensive clinical discussions and MRI evaluations, the medical team has recommended enucleation (surgical removal of the eye) to address the disease effectively.

Ongoing Monitoring: Her care requires consistent follow-up, including frequent MRI scans of the brain and orbit, and regular laboratory blood work (CBC, LFT, RFT) to ensure her safety during systemic treatment.

Procedural Adherence: Strict compliance with NPO (fasting) instructions before clinic visits and hospital procedures is mandatory for safety.

The Financial Challenge

Harshita’s family has been dedicated to providing her with the best possible care, but the burden of prolonged, specialized oncology treatment is immense. The costs of consistent chemotherapy, recurring MRI imaging, diagnostic blood panels, and the associated travel and logistical expenses for frequent hospital visits at AIIMS have pushed the family to a critical financial point.

With Harshita facing a major surgical intervention, the family’s ability to sustain her ongoing care is under severe pressure. Your generous donations will directly ensure uninterrupted access to her essential medical procedures, post-operative care, and the specialized medications required for her recovery.
